

The Musician Within the Man
Kendell Haywood is a professional percussionist from Alexandria, Virginia. His areas of expertise are classical percussion, jazz drum set, and world percussion. He studied at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA under the direction of John Kilkenny and John Spirtas and was conferred a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance in the Spring of 2019. Since graduating he has studied drumkit and hand percussion with Tom Teasley. Throughout his undergrad he worked with a variety of ensembles by playing percussion, playing drum set, singing, composing, and arranging which afforded him the opportunity to work with and play alongside some amazing artists such as:
-Lady Antebellum at Jiffy Lube Live
-GRiZ at The Anthem
He has also traveled around the world with various groups and organizations to play for a multitude of music conventions and organizations including:
-Percussive Arts Society International Convention (2016) in Indianapolis, IN,
-McCormick Marimba Festival (2018) in Tampa, FL
-The College Music Society International Conference (2018) in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
